Home Remedies For Mange
Any furry animal can become a victim of mange. Many pet owners are not aware of how serious and life threatening this condition can be if it is left untreated. If you are unfamiliar with mange, you may be curious to know what it is.
Mange can be described and defined as a parasite infection of the skin. This is a common issue that is found in dogs, but can also affect cats and some species of wild animals. You can blame a parasite called a mite for all of this chaos and disturbance. These tiny guys feast on your pet and cause this condition.
If you’re not sure of what to look for, a lot of weight loss and scratching usually occurs. To make matters a little bit worse, dehydration and lack of appetite can also occur. You will also be able to tell if your pet has become a victim of mange just by looking at it. There are symptoms that will appear on the neck, head, ears, and face.
In any event, you just want your pet to be safe and feeling better. Instead of paying a vet money to treat your furry loved one, just try a few home remedies and see which ones work the best for you. It is very important to keep in mind that even healthy animals have a very small percentage of these mites present on them and it’s nothing to be alarmed about. When these little mites get out of hand is when the problems occur.
A popular remedy here is to brush the fur of your pet on a regular basis. To make things a little bit easier, you may want to get into a routine of brushing the fur twice daily. Even if it’s just once a day, it will be better than not doing it at all and encountering problems later on down the road.
Yogurt is also a remedy that may help. This is commonly used to help with the healing of the inside of the ears. Take two tablespoons of plain yogurt and give it to your pet. This yogurt should contain acidophilus.
Cooking oil may also help you out in the long run. To do this, you will need to put a few drops of this oil directly on the patches of skin that need help. This will also cut down the irritation that is caused by mites. This oil will also kill mites at the same time it stops irritation and helps heal skin.
You may also find that a lemon will work for you and your pet. You have to boil some water and slice a whole lemon with the peel left on it. Put the slices into the water, and let it steep overnight. When the next day arrives, apply it to your pet with a sponge. Your pet will greatly appreciate this and feel much better. You may even notice a change in attitude or mood once everything dealing with mange has been settled.
