What is Cymbalta?

Cymbalta is a brand-name for a drug called duloxetine. Cymbalta is an antidepressant, a medicine that helps to lift mental depression. Cymbalta may also be prescribed for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Cymbalta may also be prescribed for other uses as decided by your health care provider.

Uses of Cymbalta:

Cymbalta is used to treat depression; this medicine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It can also be used in other circumstances for treatment, as if determined by your doctor. A new antidepressant called duloxetine improved symptoms of fibromyalgia -- a chronic and painful musculoskeletal disorder in women.

• insomnia.
• nausea, diarrhea and dry mouth.
• headache.
• fatigue.

How to Store Cymbalta Medication:

• Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children.
• Store Cymbalta at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

• weakness;
• changes in appetite or weight;
• nervousness
• decreased sex drive

What other drugs will affect Cymbalta

Cymbalta can interact with many other medicines. Some interactions can be very important. Make sure your prescriber or health care professional knows about all other medicines you are taking. Many important interactions are listed below :-

• Venlafaxine (Effexor).
• A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) such as fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), paroxetine (Paxil).
• Nortriptyline (Pamelor).
• Do not take cymbalta if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil).

You may not be able to take Cymbalta, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicines listed above. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Cymbalta. Talk to your doctor before taking any prescription medicines.

What to do if you miss a dose of Cymbalta ?

If you miss a dose of Cymbalta , take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

What if Overdose of Cymbalta ?

If you take overdose of Cymbalta the seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.

• Symptoms of a Cymbalta overdose may include vomiting, tremor, agitation, seizures, drowsiness, hyperactivity, and enlarged pupils.
